Sheila J. Dresser, 90, formerly of Earlville and Sherburne, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 of natural causes at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisville.
She was born April 9, 1930 In Alexandria Bay, NY, a daughter of Eric R. and Clara Steier Coon. She had lived in Lowville and Pittsburgh PA where she drove a taxi cab before moving to the local area in 1967. She married Louis E. Wissenbach, Jr. in November 1950. On September 15, 1973, Sheila married Gordon L. Dresser in Hamilton who predeceased her on September 20, 2008. Sheila had worked in the buildings and grounds department at Colgate University in Hamilton for 20 years until retiring. Sheila was a member of the James Madison Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. (DAR); a former member and Past President of the Quincy Square Museum in Earlville; a former member of the Brookfield Historical Society and the Spirit of Syracuse Chorus. She loved singing, reading, writing, gardening and going on rides to take in the scenery. Surviving are her children, Diane Church of Avoca, NY; Louis E. (Linda) Wissenbach, III of WA; Timothy Wissenbach (Joe Cardillo) of Utica; Laurie Lombardi of Buffalo; Dale (Kessa) Wissenbach of Earlville; daughter-in-law, Catherine Schell (Joseph Wissenbach) of Earlville; step-children, Christine (Michael) Blake of Candor; Edith (Craig) Walker, Todd (Katie) Dresser, all of Smyrna; a sister Audrey Clark of Hamilton; niece Alyce Riedl of Kirkland, 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Wissenbach, a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Richard Keefe and Donald Clark, In keeping with Sheila’s wishes, there are no services. Interment will be private at the convenience of her family.
Contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
